Passions can be seen as morally positive when they lead to virtuous actions, while they are deemed negative when they result in wrongdoing. A virtuous will governs the senses and directs them towards goodness and true happiness, whereas a malignant will is overwhelmed by chaotic passions, which only intensifies their disarray.
