Are shrines haram?
Approved answer
Islamic Perspective on Shrines
According to Abu Marthad, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stated, "Do not sit on graves, nor should you pray towards them." The creation of shrines is considered forbidden in Islam. Engaging in activities such as sitting on or praying at graves is seen as haram and constitutes shirk, as the deceased hold no power.
