Do I pray to God or Jesus?

Understanding Prayer

Most prayer is typically directed towards God the Father. Jesus Himself instructs us to pray to the Father and consistently does so during His time on Earth (see John 16:23 and John 17:1-26). Once we accept salvation, God becomes our Father as well (refer to John 1:12). We are encouraged to present any requests to Him, and He will listen (Philippians 4:6).
