Do wines haram?

According to a narration by Abdullah Ibn Abbas, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stated that every substance which causes intoxication is considered khamr (wine), and thus all intoxicants are prohibited. Furthermore, it is mentioned that if someone consumes wine, Allah will not accept their prayers for a period of forty days. However, if the individual repents, Allah will forgive and accept their repentance.
