Throughout World War II, approximately 13.6 million individuals, comprised of both volunteers and conscripts, served in the German Army. Remarkably, just 17 months following Adolf Hitler's announcement of the German rearmament initiative in 1935, the army achieved its ambitious target of 36 divisions. By the autumn of 1937, two additional corps had also been established.
