When considering how to recognize if Allah is putting you through a test, reflect on the sins and disobedient actions you may have engaged in. These could range from acts of disbelief (kufr) to lesser sins or even serious transgressions. It is noted that Allah, in His glory and majesty, may choose to test individuals who have committed such acts by sending trials and adversities as a form of recompense and immediate consequence in this life.
