The Thamūd were a tribe or collection of tribes that thrived in ancient Arabia, with their existence recorded from the 8th century BCE through to the 5th century CE. Historical accounts indicate that they inhabited various areas of the Hejaz region. Furthermore, later Islamic traditions suggest that the Thamūd made their home on the slopes of Mount Athlab.
