Is 300 a True Story?

The movie, much like the material it’s based on, is a dramatized version of the Battle of Thermopylae during the Greco-Persian Wars. The storyline focuses on King Leonidas (played by Gerard Butler), who commands a group of 300 Spartans in their fight against the Persian ruler, Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and his vast army of over 300,000 troops.
