Ali ibn Abi Talib (Arabic: عَلِيُّ بْن أَبِي طَالِب, romanized: ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib; circa 600–661 CE) was not only the cousin of the Prophet Muhammad but also his son-in-law. He served as the fourth caliph of the Rashidun dynasty from 656 CE until 661 CE. Furthermore, he is recognized as the first imam in Shia Islam.
