Is God male or female?
Understanding the Nature of God
He is neither male nor female; rather, He is God. The Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses the conventional depictions and terminology used to describe God as Father. It acknowledges, however, that this doesn't confine God to that singular role—there are also instances of maternal imagery found within the Bible. Furthermore, it is pointed out that human fatherhood only represents an imperfect reflection of God's nature.
