During the early stages of the Hunter Exam, Killua encountered Gon and the two quickly formed a strong bond of friendship. At first, he had no desire to become either an assassin or a Hunter; his main goal was to build a friendship with Gon and join him on his adventures. However, he eventually decides to pursue the path of a Hunter after successfully completing the 388th Hunter Exam.
