Is Lead Considered a Hazardous Air Pollutant?
The federal Clean Air Act (CAA) sets forth programs for managing six common air pollutants, referred to as criteria air pollutants. These include carbon monoxide, lead, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, particulate matter, and sulfur dioxide. Additionally, the U.S. EPA includes 187 substances classified as hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).
