Understanding the Islamic Madhabs in Palestine

Approximately 85% of the Muslim population in Palestine identifies as Sunni, with the Hanafi school being the most widely followed among them. This madhab is one of the four major schools of Islamic jurisprudence within Sunni Islam. Additionally, it is noteworthy that Salafism began to gain a foothold in Gaza during the 1970s, particularly after many Palestinian students returned from studying at religious institutions in Saudi Arabia.
