Water is a limited resource; the Earth contains approximately 1,400 million cubic kilometers of water, which cycles through the hydrological process. The vast majority of this water is salty, while a significant portion remains trapped in ice or underground. Only a mere one-hundredth of one percent is available as fresh water.
