Changes Following Death

Following death, the first noticeable change is pallor mortis, which refers to the paleness appearing within the initial 15–120 minutes. This is soon followed by livor mortis or dependent lividity, where blood settles in the lower parts of the body. Lastly, algor mortis occurs, which is the gradual decrease in body temperature until it equalizes with the surrounding environment.
