Plutus is the deity associated with abundance and wealth in Greek mythology. He embodies the concept of ploutos (Greek: “riches”). Hesiod mentions that Plutus was born in Crete, being the offspring of Demeter, the goddess of fertility, and the Cretan Iasion.
