What is a Pressure Cap?

The pressure cap is designed to control the maximum pressure within the cooling system, safeguarding the hoses and radiator from potential damage. When the engine is turned off, the coolant cools down and contracts noticeably. To mitigate this effect, the cap features a return valve that allows air from the environment or coolant from a connected expansion tank, if available, to enter the system.
