The Fate of Thamud
The Qur'an refers to the Thamud as a reminder of the fleeting nature of earthly power. In accordance with Islamic teachings, the Thamud were cautioned by the prophet Ṣāliḥ to devote themselves to the worship of Allāh. However, they obstinately ignored this warning, leading to their destruction, which came in the form of either a thunderbolt or an earthquake.
