Between the years 1492 and 1610, approximately 3 million Muslims either chose to leave Spain or were forced to do so. They migrated predominantly to North Africa. This exiled community formed a substantial pool of recruits ready to engage in commercial warfare against Christian nations, leading to a series of piratical raids launched from strategic locations including Algiers, Tunis, Morocco, and Tripoli.
