According to a report by the World Bank in 2021, the United States generated the highest amount of municipal solid waste (MSW), totaling over 254 million metric tons. Following closely is China, which produced more than 230 million metric tons. India, Japan, and Germany complete the list of the top five countries with the highest MSW production.
