Who Was Responsible for the Fall of the Umayyad Dynasty?

The ʿAbbasid family traced their lineage back to one of Muhammad's uncles. Recognizing the vulnerabilities of the Umayyad rulers, they initiated a rebellion in 747. With the backing of a coalition that included Persians, Iraqis, and Shīʿites, they ultimately defeated the Umayyads at the Battle of the Great Zab River in 750, bringing the Umayyad dynasty to an end.
