Between the years 613 and 619 CE, in the city of Mecca, the Islamic prophet Muhammad began to attract a small group of followers who were drawn to his teachings about Islam. The very first individual to accept Islam and acknowledge the faith was his wife, Khadija bint Khuwaylid.
