According to the Gospel of Matthew (2:1–12), a group of Magi, also known as wise men, journeyed from the East, guided by a star, in search of a newly born king. Upon reaching Bethlehem, they found Mary and the infant Jesus and presented him with gifts that included gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
