The first functioning transistors were created in 1947 by John Bardeen, Walter Brattain, and William Shockley at Bell Labs. They developed the point-contact transistor. The following year, in 1948, Shockley presented the enhanced bipolar junction transistor. This innovation began production in the early 1950s, marking the onset of the widespread adoption of transistors.
