In the context of Abrahamic faiths, the consumption of pork is explicitly prohibited by dietary guidelines found in Judaism (known as kashrut), Islam (termed halal), and within certain Christian denominations such as the Adventists (who follow kosher practices). In both Judaism and Islam, the pig is regarded as an impure animal regarding food, which is also observed in some Christian teachings.
