Why is Aisha referred to as the ‘Mother of the Believers’?

Aisha was not someone who received reverence in the sense of worship. The title “Mother of the Believers” was bestowed upon her not to obligate believers to show her veneration, but rather to foster a genuine respect among them for her and for all of the Prophet's companions.
