Although the soldiers dressed Jesus in a purple robe as a form of mockery, it unintentionally highlighted a significant truth. Purple has historically been associated with royalty, and this action was a taunt towards Him, as He had proclaimed Himself the king of the Jews. In truth, however, Jesus is far more than just that—He is the "King of kings and Lord of lords" (1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 19:16).
