Prayers for Easing Marriage

Are There Specific Supplications Found in the Prophetic Tradition to Facilitate Marriage?

There are no recorded Hadiths from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) specifically addressing prayers to facilitate marriage or expedite its process. However, Muslims can certainly invoke Allah (SWT) with general supplications, intending to hasten and ease their marital journey.

Supplications for Facilitating Marriage

Here are some prayers that can be recited to ease the process of finding a spouse:

  • O Allah, grant me a spouse who is better for me, and I am better for him in our faith, our worldly affairs, and the outcomes of our lives, both immediate and distant.
  • Bestow upon me a righteous spouse, and instill between us love, mercy, and comfort; indeed, You have power over all things.
  • O Allah, bless me with a good husband and make my marriage easy; grant me patience and quick relief. There is no deity but You, and all strength and power come from You alone.
  • O Allah, You are the guide for the lost and the hope for the seekers. O Remover of sorrows and Reliever of distress, marry us and provide for us with Your lawful provisions. O Generous One, Lord of the Majestic Throne, and shower us with Your mercy, for You are the Most Merciful.
  • O Allah, as I desire to marry, decree for me a righteous man who will be a source of chastity and protection for my wealth and soul, provide him with abundant sustenance, and grant him great blessings. Decree for me a virtuous child who will embody good morals in my life and after my death.
  • O Allah, marry me to a righteous man who pleases my eyes and I please his. You are the Lord of Glory and Honor.
  • O Allah, I ask You by Your Greatest Name, which, when invoked by anyone, results in a response, and when anyone calls upon You, You relieve them; I seek Your assistance in marriage, O Most Merciful, O Lord of Glory and Honor.
  • O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the delay and slowness of marriage. I ask You to grant me better than I deserve.
  • O Allah, You possess the power that I do not; You know what I do not. You are the Knower of the unseen and the Omnipotent. If You know that (such and such person) is good for me, then grant me their companionship, but if there is someone better for my faith, my life, and my afterlife, then decree that for me.
  • O Allah, provide me with a righteous spouse who will obey me when I command, bring me joy when I see them, fulfill my oaths, and protect me in my absence regarding themselves and my wealth.
  • O Owner of the kingdom, You give sovereignty to whom You will, and in Your hand is good; You are capable of all things. Most Merciful in both this world and the Hereafter, You give and withhold from whomever You choose. Grant me mercy that may suffice me from the mercy of others, and provide me with a marriage that brings tranquility and comfort to my heart.

Hadiths about Marriage

  • As mentioned in the authentic Hadith narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, where he relates: “I was with Abdullah when he met Uthman at Mina. Uthman said to him, ‘O Abu Abdur-Rahman, I have a need for you,’ and they withdrew. Uthman then asked, ‘Would you like us to marry you to a virgin who would remind you of what you had forgotten?’ When Abdullah saw that he had no need for this, he gestured to me and said, ‘O Alqamah.’ He then reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘O young men, whoever among you is able to marry, let him do so. And whoever cannot, let him fast, for fasting is a means of protection.’
  • The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: ‘There are three whom Allah has promised to assist: the person striving in His cause, the individual seeking to settle a debt upon which they have agreed, and the one seeking marriage desiring chastity.’
