Prayers to Enhance People’s Affection for You

Prayers to Increase Love from Others

Below are some prayers that Muslims may recite to seek an increase in the love people have for them:

  • (O Allah, I ask You for Your love, for the love of those who love You, and for the actions that bring me closer to Your love. O Allah, make Your love dearer to me than my own self, my family, and cold water.)
  • (O Allah, make faith beloved to us and adorn it within our hearts. Cause disbelief, disobedience, and sin to be distasteful to us and make us among the rightly guided. O Allah, grant us a peaceful departure in submission to You, and cause us to live in submission to You, and unite us with the righteous.)
  • (O Mighty One, I find strength in Your might. Whoever finds strength in You is truly strong; there is no humiliation after it. But whoever seeks strength outside of You will remain weak with no true honor.)
  • (O Allah, unite me with all of Your creatures, just as You united Adam and Eve, as You united Moses and the Children of Israel, and as You united our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with his family and nation.)
  • (O Exhibitor of great matters, there is no deity but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer. O Allah, instill love and affection in the hearts of all mankind.)
  • (O Allah, make so-and-so beloved to me after Your love and the love of Your Messenger. Guide them to me and make them a part of my destiny and fortune, and marry us in what is lawful according to Your way and that of Your Messenger.)

Prayers to Enhance a Husband’s Love for His Wife

The following prayers can be recited by wives to foster greater love from their husbands:

  • (Our Lord, grant us spouses and descendants who will be the joy of our eyes.)
  • (O Allah, protect us from the devil and protect what You have provided us from him.)
  • (O Allah, just as You controlled the winds for Solomon, the fish for Jonah, the fire for our Prophet Abraham, and Gabriel for Muhammad, I ask You to guide my husband to me and protect me from his harm. O Allah, make my husband the comfort of my eyes and make me the comfort of his eyes.)
  • (O Allah, return my husband to me in a beautiful manner. I ask You by Your beloved name, the Sufficient One, to resolve all matters related to my husband, that concern me and keep me awake at night.)
  • (O Allah, unite my heart with his heart as You have united the hearts of Your servants. O Allah, facilitate for him as You facilitated the sea for Moses.)
  • (O Allah, reveal my virtues to my husband and reveal his virtues to me. Conceal my faults from him and his faults from me.)
  • (O Allah, grant me my husband’s devotion and me his devotion, and bless him for me and bless me for him.)
  • (O Allah, just as You turned the women of the world away from Joseph, divert the women of the universe from my husband.)

Quranic Verses and Prophetic Traditions on Love

The Quran and the Sunnah provide various references to the themes of God’s love and the love between people, including:

  • (And those who believe are stronger in love for Allah.)
  • (Say, “If you love Allah, then follow me, so Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.”)
  • (He said, “Indeed, I have loved the love of good things over the remembrance of my Lord.”)
  • (The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “When Allah loves a servant, He calls Gabriel and says: ‘I love so-and-so, so love him.’ Gabriel then loves him, and he calls out in the heavens: ‘Indeed, Allah loves so-and-so, so love him,’ and the inhabitants of the heavens love him. Then acceptance is placed for him on earth. Conversely, when Allah hates a servant, He calls Gabriel and says: ‘I hate so-and-so, so hate him.’ Gabriel hates him, and he proclaims in the heavens: ‘Indeed, Allah hates so-and-so, so hate him,’ and they hate him. Then loathing is placed for him on earth.)
