Best Moisturizers for Babies
There are numerous types of baby moisturizers available from various global brands, with prices ranging from high-end to moderately priced. However, parents cannot always guarantee that these products are free from harmful chemicals. Therefore, it is preferable to use natural moisturizers made from recognizable ingredients. Below are several methods for preparing moisturizing creams for babies:
- Milk Bath Moisturizing: Milk is one of the softest and most hydrating ingredients. It can be added to a bath to gently cleanse the skin. (If the baby is sensitive to cow’s milk, goat or sheep milk is recommended.) To prepare this bath, mix one cup of dry milk with half a cup of cornstarch and two to three drops of an essential oil such as lavender or chamomile. - Baby Powder Moisturizing: For this method, mix a quarter cup of cornstarch with a quarter cup of any preferred baby powder, a teaspoon of white clay, and a few drops of essential oil as desired. Place the mixture in a container with suitable holes for sprinkling. Sprinkle a small amount in the diaper area during changes to keep that skin soft and pleasantly scented.
- Baby Oil Moisturizing: It is advisable to use natural oils as they are more hydrating and gentle compared to synthetic oils. These oils can be applied after a bath or at any other time for the necessary softness and hydration. Furthermore, these oils are beneficial for alleviating dry skin or symptoms of eczema, and they are also great for performing relaxing massages, helping babies fall asleep.
- Oatmeal Bath Moisturizing: This method requires a large cup of finely ground oatmeal, blended until it reaches a powdery consistency. Sprinkle this quantity into warm bath water, and place the baby in the tub. Parents will quickly notice the immediate and effective results, with the skin becoming hydrated and smooth.
