Did Plato Invent Rhetoric?

As noted by the rhetorical scholar Edward Schiappa, Plato is credited with coining the term "rhetoric." In fact, Plato introduced several unique words in his dialogues that are rare in the Greek historical lexicon, including "eristic" (which refers to point-scoring debates) and "anti-logic" (the practice of arguing both sides of an issue).
