Understanding the Origins of Rhetoric

The concept of traditional rhetoric is primarily rooted in the frameworks and terminology established by rhetors, or rhetoricians, during the Classical era of ancient Greece, around the 5th century BC. It was originally aimed at educating citizens of the Greek republics in the art of public speaking, and later it extended to the offspring of the affluent during the time of the Roman Empire.
