The White Nile is the longer of the two rivers. It originates from Lake Victoria in Tanzania and flows northward to Khartoum, Sudan, where it merges with the Blue Nile. The Blue Nile itself starts near Lake Tana in Ethiopia. Ultimately, the Nile River flows into the Mediterranean Sea in northern Egypt.
