The Children of the Prophet Muhammad from Umm Al-Mu’minin Khadijah
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was blessed with a total of seven children: three sons and four daughters. All of these children were born to Umm Al-Mu’minin Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), except for Ibrahim, who was born to Maria the Copt. It is important to highlight that the Prophet did not have any descendants from his other wives.
Children of the Prophet from Khadijah
The Prophet (peace be upon him) had two sons with Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), namely:
- Al-Qasim: The Prophet was known by this name, and he died at a young age following an accident involving a camel.
- Abdullah: Referred to as Al-Tayyib Al-Tahir, there is a scholarly debate regarding his birth; some say he was born before the Prophethood, while others state he was born afterwards.
Daughters of the Prophet from Khadijah
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had four daughters with Umm Al-Mu’minin Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), who are:
- Zainab: From a young age, she was committed to the struggle for the sake of Allah and actively participated in the early days of the Islamic call. She witnessed the siege of Banu Hashim and was among the early converts to Islam, who sacrificed dearly for their faith while enduring persecution from the disbelievers. Zainab remained patient with her husband Abu Al-As, who eventually embraced Islam in the seventh year of Hijra. She passed away in the eighth year of Hijra.
- Ruqayyah: After her divorce from Utbah ibn Abi Lahab, she married Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) and worked alongside him in spreading the message of Islam. They emigrated to Abyssinia during the first migration and later migrated again due to the increasing persecution of Muslims.
- Umm Kulthum: Following her sister Ruqayyah’s death, she also married Uthman ibn Affan. The Prophet (peace be upon him) lovingly referred to her as “the virtuous” because of her grace and generosity. She passed away in the ninth year of Hijra and was buried in Al-Baqi cemetery.
- Fatimah: As the youngest and most beloved daughter of the Prophet, she married Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him).
