Verses for Protection from the Affectionate Jinn
The Holy Quran serves as a potent source of healing and protection for individuals against all evils. It acts as a fortress against the devil, jinn, magic, the evil eye, and jealousy. Among the chapters and verses that safeguard believers, with God’s permission, are as follows:
- Surah Al-Fatiha
(In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Owner of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path. The path of those who have received Your grace; not the path of those who have brought down wrath upon themselves, nor of those who have gone astray).
- Ayat Al-Kursi
(Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Great).
- Surah Al-Kafirun
(Say, “O disbelievers! I do not worship what you worship. Nor are you worshippers of what I worship. And I will not be a worshipper of what you have worshipped. Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship. For you is your religion, and for me is my religion.”).
- Surah Al-Ikhlas
(Say, “He is Allah, One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born. Nor is there to Him any equivalent”).
- Surah Al-Falaq
(Say, “I seek refuge with the Lord of daybreak. From the evil of that which He created. And from the evil of darkness when it settles. And from the evil of the blowers in knots. And from the evil of an envier when he envies”).
- Surah An-Nas
(Say, “I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the retreating whisperer – who whispers in the breasts of mankind – of jinn and among people”).
- Recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Do not make your homes graveyards, for the devil flees from a house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited.” He also said, “Recite Surah Al-Baqarah, for taking it is a blessing, and abandoning it is a regret. And the magicians cannot bear it”).
- (Alif Lam Meem. This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah – who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them – and who believe in what has been revealed to you, O Muhammad, and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain – Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful).
- (The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them believed in Allah and His angels and His Books and His messengers, [saying], “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they said, “We hear and we obey. [Grant us] Your forgiveness, our Lord. To You is the final destination.” Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or made a mistake. Our Lord, lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people).
- (And Pharaoh said, “Bring to me every skilled magician.” And when the magicians came, Musa said to them, “Throw down what you will throw.” And when they had thrown, Musa said, “What you have brought is only magic. Indeed, Allah will invalidate it. Indeed, Allah does not establish the work of corruptors. And Allah will establish the truth by His words, even if the criminals dislike it).
- (And We send down in the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers. And it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss).
- I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil: (Indeed, it is Satan that frightens his allies, so do not fear them, but fear Me, if you are indeed believers).
- (And indeed, those who disbelieve almost strike you down with their evil eyes when they hear the reminder; and they say, “Indeed, he is mad.”)
- (And they followed what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. And Solomon did not disbelieve; but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. And they taught not a soul until they said, “We are trial,” so do not disbelieve. And from these [angels], they learned that by which they cause division between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah. And they learned what harms them and does not benefit them. And they had certainly known that whoever buys it has no share in the Hereafter. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew).
- (O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan – then indeed, he enjoins upon immorality and wrongdoing. And if it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have been pure, but Allah purifies whom He wills. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing).
- (And when you recite the Quran, We put between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed partition. And We have put over their hearts coverings, so they do not understand it; and in their ears is deafness. And when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran, they turn their backs in aversion).
- (Indeed, My servants, there is for you no authority over them except for those who follow you of the deviators).
- (And We have made before them a barrier and behind them a barrier, and We have covered them, so they do not see).
Supplications and Remembrances for Protection from Devils and Jinn
Among the remembrances and supplications that protect a person from devils, jinn, evil, and jealousy, with God’s permission, are the following:
- (I seek refuge in Allah, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the accursed devil, from his whispers, and from his blows and breaths).
- (I seek refuge in the complete words of Allah, which no righteous or wicked can transcend, from the evil of what He has created, and from the evil of what descends from the heavens, and from the evil of what ascends therein, and from the evil of what has been created on earth, and from the evil of what emerges therefrom, and from the evil of the trials of night and day, and from the evil of every visitor who visits, except one who comes with good, O Most Merciful).
- (I seek refuge in the complete words of Allah from every devil and venomous creature, and from every eye that harms).
- (In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the earth or the heavens can harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing – recite three times).
- (In the name of Allah, I seek healing for you from everything that harms you, from the evil of every soul or eye, or envious person. May Allah heal you, I seek healing for you in the name of Allah).
- (O Lord of mankind, remove the pain. Heal, and You are the Healer. There is no healing but Your healing, a healing that leaves no trace of illness).
- (O Allah, grant me health in my body; O Allah, grant me health in my hearing; O Allah, grant me health in my sight).
- Frequent saying: (There is no power and no strength except with Allah).
- (Whoever says upon exiting his house: In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah; there is no power and no strength except with Allah, it will be said to him: You have been guided, sufficed, and protected, and the devil will depart from him).
- (Whoever says “There is no deity except Allah alone, without partner for Him. To Him belongs the kingdom, and to Him is the praise, and He is over all things competent”, one hundred times a day, will have the reward of freeing ten slaves, and one hundred good deeds will be written for him, and one hundred sins will be erased from him, and he will be protected from the devil that day until evening. No one will come with better than what he brought except for one who does more than that).
- It was narrated from Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would never miss these supplications when he would enter the evening and the morning: “O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my world, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults, and calm my fears, and protect me from in front of me, and from behind me, and from my right, and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in You lest I be taken unaware from beneath me”).
- (When a man enters his house and remembers Allah upon entering and at his mealtime, Satan says: “You have no place to stay, nor dinner.” But if he enters and does not remember Allah, Satan says: “You have gained a place to stay and dinner”).
- The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to Abu Bakr when he asked him about a supplication to say in the morning and evening: “Say: O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord of all things and their Sovereign. I bear witness that there is no deity except You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of myself, from the evil of the devil, and from his associates. Say it when you reach the morning, when you reach the evening, and when you take your rest”).
