Ahmad Amin: A Renowned Sudanese Artist
Ahmad Amin, a celebrated Sudanese singer, songwriter, and music producer, was born on August 28, 1988. He is often referred to as the “Legend” and the “Gem of Africa.” His full name is Ahmad Mohamed Elamin Mohamed Hassan, but he is widely known as Ahmad Amin.
His rise to fame commenced with his participation in the talent show that aired on Sudan’s Blue Nile Channel, where he emerged victorious in the “Stars of Tomorrow” competition. Following this, he established his own social media channels to connect with his audience.
Professional Journey
Ahmad Amin’s musical journey began at the tender age of seven when he started learning the piano. His passion for music was evident early on, as he frequently participated in various Sudanese events held in his birthplace, Libya.
Upon moving to Sudan, he broadened his musical repertoire by learning to play the Oud, guitar, and mandolin. His initial performances took place through school events. Later, during his high school years, he enrolled in a music center in Khartoum where he honed his skills, joined a budding music group, and learned sound engineering. He released his first song, “With the Voice of You,” during this period.
Ahmad Amin auditioned for “Stars of Tomorrow,” but his initial attempt was unsuccessful due to the program’s reluctance to accept his unique style. Determined, he returned for the following season and won the title in 2009, gaining widespread recognition. Currently, he resides in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Academic Background
Ahmad pursued higher education at the Sudan University of Science and Technology, graduating from the Faculty of Communication Sciences with a degree in Multimedia. His university studies, however, took him away from active musical pursuits during that time.
In 2010, he traveled to Malaysia to study sound engineering. After returning to Khartoum, he released several songs that, regrettably, did not achieve significant commercial success.
Notable Works and Recent Projects
Facing challenges in the music scene, Ahmad Amin temporarily stepped back from his musical career due to financial pressures, relocating to Saudi Arabia in 2013. However, in 2016, he revitalized his musical ambitions by sharing new songs on his social media platforms, which garnered a positive response and rekindled his hope of realizing his dreams.
Ahmad quickly developed a substantial following on social media, leading to a resurgence in his career with the release of “Faqidnak.” This track elevated him to a new status within the Sudanese music industry, earning him a significant fan base.
He has since produced many original songs characterized by his unique musical style, showcasing his vocal prowess and innovative compositions. Critics have recognized him as one of the leading young artists in Sudan.
Ahmad Amin is also noted for his contribution to the Sudanese revolution through his song “Madinah Hurriyyah wa Salam,” penned by Bashir al-Batana and featuring Ahmad Amin’s own lyrics, composition, and arrangement, directed by Yousri Salah. Released after the tragic Khartoum massacre on June 3, 2019, this song expresses the collective grief of the Sudanese community.
The lyrics, crafted by Bashir al-Batana, convey a profound sense of sorrow and serve as a tribute to the victims, while highlighting the disproportionate violence faced by peaceful protesters during their demonstrations.
