Roses
Roses are among the most beautiful, creative, and diverse plants known. They come in a variety of shapes, types, and fragrances, with each type differing in the locations where they bloom and the seasons in which they flourish. As a result, there is often a price distinction between imported and locally sourced roses. Roses are commonly gifted for various occasions such as weddings, recoveries, and birthdays. In this article, we will explore some of the most stunning types of roses.
Most Beautiful Roses
Lotus
The lotus flower is both a wild and cultivated plant characterized by its upright stem and multiple branches. The flowers are bright yellow with some red spots on the tips. This elegant bloom typically grows to a height of 15 to 30 cm and contains a pigment that has analgesic properties and acts as an antispasmodic, exhibiting remarkable abilities to treat inflammation. The lotus is sensitive to transport and picking leads to its rapid demise. In ancient Egyptian mythology, the lotus symbolizes childhood and innocence, emerging from the depths of its white bloom. The lotus requires sunlight to thrive and grows in stagnant waters such as wide marshes, floating serenely on still waters or in desert foothills. The ancient Egyptians referred to the lotus by several names, including “The Beautiful” or “Nankur,” as they regarded it as the epitome of floral perfection. The blue lotus is often considered the first and most vibrant fragrance compared to the white lotus.
Violet
The violet flower resembles small herbs but belongs to ornamental shrubbery. Its leaves resemble long-stemmed discs, and its blossoms typically emerge at the center of the shrubs, each flower blooming at the end of its branch. Violets possess relatively short stems, with colors ranging from white to purple. In the early morning, their fragrance is more potent than at any other time of day, but the blooms do not last long once picked without water, as their stems wilt quickly. Therefore, it is essential to place them in water immediately or to wrap them with paper if transporting them to another location to prevent wilting.
Daffodil
Daffodil leaves are shaped like pentagonal or hexagonal discs, standing erect to support two large flowers of a sulfurous hue. Field daffodils are best picked in the early morning when their scent is strongest, as blooms harvested later in the day contain lower levels of aromatic oils due to the rising temperatures.
Camelia
The camellia is a shrub that blooms predominantly in winter and spring. Its flowers come in various shades, including white, yellow, and red. This remarkable plant thrives in shaded areas and requires minimal sunlight, although it does need light in general. Camellias can be grown from seeds or cuttings, with propagation occurring from September to February each year.
Deadly Nightshade (Belladonna)
Deadly nightshade, scientifically known as Belladonna, is a beautiful plant that thrives in warm or temperate climates. It is a herb rather than a wild tree and can grow to heights between 60 to 415 cm. The plant features thick roots and sturdy stems, with oval-shaped, somewhat glossy leaves. The flowers are bell-shaped and vivid red, while the fruit starts as green berries that ripen to red before turning black when fully mature. Despite its aesthetic appeal, the fruit is toxic and inedible; however, it is useful for seed production and ornamental purposes.
Henna Flowers
Henna flowers grow on a shrub with reddish roots, white fuzzy bark, and small, dense, opposite leaves that are bright green. The dried and powdered leaves are commonly used for hair dyeing, although they are not edible.
Cactus Flower
The cactus flower belongs to a spiny desert plant species, showcasing yellow blooms. Its height can range from two to five meters, with flattened, oval green pads. The flowers contain a sticky substance along with sugary components, and they are rich in citric and malic acids, making them highly nutritious and safe for consumption.
Iris Flower
The iris flower boasts a range of colors, with the black iris being among the rarest. White irises can reach heights between 60 and 100 cm, producing large, fragrant blooms. Their leaves have a jointed appearance and feature strong stems, available in various colors, including white with red, blue with yellow.
Cyperus Flowers
Cyperus flowers grow on tall plants belonging to the umbellifer family, often found in marshy areas with roots anchored in mud. The stems rise upward in a triangular cross-section, and the flower heads resemble umbrellas with dense foliage resembling a sun disk. Historically, cyperus was used to make papyrus—an ancient form of writing material, known as royal paper. This evergreen plant continues to thrive today, particularly in the Bahr al-Ghazal region along the southern Nile.
