Verses Reflecting Fear of Allah
This section presents several verses that pertain to the fear of Allah (Exalted be He). Below are some notable examples:
- From Surah Al-Imran: (Indeed, it is only Satan who frightens his allies. So do not fear them, but fear Me if you are indeed believers).
- (We certainly sent down the Torah, containing guidance and light, by which the Prophets who had surrendered (to Allah) judged for those who were Jews and the Rabbis and scholars, by that which they were entrusted from the Book of Allah, and they were witnesses to it. So do not fear the people and fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the disbelievers).
- (Indeed, those who are in awe of their Lord are fearful).
- (For them above them are canopies of fire, and beneath them are canopies. That is what Allah uses to frighten His servants. O My servants, then fear Me).
- (And among people, creatures, and livestock are various colors. Similarly, only those of His servants who have knowledge fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Forgiving).
- (O Children of Israel, remember My favor that I have bestowed upon you, and fulfill My covenant; I will fulfill your covenant, and of Me, you should be in awe).
General Verses about Fear
This section addresses verses that discuss the concept of fear in a broader context:
- From Surah An-Nisa: (And when there comes to them a matter of safety or fear, they spread it about. But if they had referred it to the Messenger and to those in authority among them, they would have known it by (the help of) Allah. And had it not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have followed Satan, except for a few).
- (And We will surely test you with something of fear, hunger, and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient).
- (Greedy towards you, but when fear comes, you see them looking at you, their eyes turning like one about to faint at death. But once the fear has departed, they strike you with sharp tongues, greedy for good. Those are the ones who have not believed, so Allah has nullified their deeds, and that for Allah is easy).
- (And who is more unjust than one who prevents the name of Allah from being mentioned in His mosques and strives to destroy them? It is not for them to enter them except in fear. For them in this world is disgrace, and they will have in the Hereafter a great punishment).
