Prayers for Relief from Distress

Supplications for Alleviating Worries from the Holy Quran

This section presents some specific supplications from the Holy Quran that can be utilized for alleviating worries:

  • (Praise be to Allah, Who has sent down the Book to His servant and has made it free from any deviation; it is a straight book to warn of a severe punishment from Him, and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward, wherein they will remain forever).
  • (He is Allah; there is no deity except Him. He is the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed. He is the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. He is Allah, the King, the Most Holy, the Source of Peace, the Granter of Security, the Guardian, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah above what they associate with Him! He is Allah, the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner. To Him belong the best names. All that is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Him, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise).
  • (All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the Lord of the earth, the Lord of all the worlds. To Him belongs the grandeur in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise).
  • (In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path, the path of those who have received Your grace; not the path of those who have earned Your anger, nor of those who have gone astray).
  • (Praise be to Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth and made darkness and light. Yet those who disbelieve in their Lord equate others with Him).

Supplications for Alleviating Worries from the Noble Sunnah

This segment outlines certain supplications from the Noble Sunnah for relieving worries:

  • (O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from stinginess and cowardice, from the burden of debt, and from the domination of men).
  • (O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no deity except You. You created me, and I am Your servant. I uphold my covenant with You and Your promise as much as I can; I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favors upon me and confess my sins to You. Forgive me, for none can forgive sins except You).
  • (O Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand; Your decree upon me is executed, and Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that is Yours, which You named Yourself, or taught to one of Your creations, or revealed in Your Book, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen, to make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light in my chest, the removal of my sadness, and the departure of my worry).

Additional Supplications for Alleviating Worries

This section presents more supplications aimed at alleviating worries:

  • O Loving One, O Lord of the Glorious Throne, O Doer of what You will! I ask You by Your might that cannot be surpassed, Your sovereignty that cannot be contested, and Your light that has illuminated the corners of Your Throne, to remove all that concerns me in this world and the Hereafter.
  • O Lord, You see my weakness and my lack of means. I am weak and humbled, humbly pleading to You for protection from every calamity. I seek refuge in You; conceal me, O my Master, from what I fear and dread, for You are greater than all that is great. In You, I seek refuge, O Allah.
  • O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness that opens my heart, elevates my remembrance, eases my affairs, and removes my distress, for You have power over all things.
  • O Subtle One, I am confused in my affairs. Kindly guide me with Your subtle grace and gentle actions in all my matters and in what I endure.
  • I sought assistance from You in lifting every gloom; ease for me every difficulty, for making the difficult easy is easy for You.
  • O Allah, provide me with a barrier of Your kindness to shield me from what harms me and from those who transgress against me.
