Varied Remembrances

Various Remembrances from the Noble Prophet’s Tradition

Within the noble tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), there exists a variety of remembrances, including the following:

  • Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Two phrases are light on the tongue, heavy on the scale, and beloved by the Most Merciful: ‘SubhanAllahi wa bihamdiHe, SubhanAllahi al-Azeem’.”
  • “There is no deity but Allah, the Great, the Forbearing. There is no deity but Allah, the Lord of the Great Throne. There is no deity but Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the Lord of the earth, and the Lord of the Glorious Throne.”
  • “O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand; Your decree over me is ongoing, and Your judgment concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that is Yours, by which You named Yourself or taught to one of Your creations, or revealed in Your Book, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur’an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the removal of my sadness, and the departure of my anxiety. Whoever seeks to relieve his worry and sorrow, Allah will exchange his grief with joy.”
  • “O Lord, assist me and do not assist others against me; grant me victory and do not grant others victory over me; devise for me and do not devise against me; guide me and make guidance easy for me; help me against those who oppress me. O Lord, make me grateful to You, a constant reminder of You, one who fears You, obedient to You, humble towards You, a supplicant who turns to You. O Lord, accept my repentance, cleanse my misdeeds, answer my invocation, guide my heart, make my tongue steady, affirm my argument, and remove the rancor from my heart.”

  • “I ask forgiveness from Allah out of shyness before Him; I ask forgiveness from Allah as I turn back to Him; I ask forgiveness from Allah in regret and retracement; I seek forgiveness from Allah as a way to escape His wrath towards His pleasure, and I seek forgiveness from Allah as a way to flee from His anger to His mercy.”

O Allah, relieve my distress, for there is no deity except You; Glory be to You, indeed I was among the wrongdoers.”
