The Most Beautiful Expressions of Love for Allah
The love of a Muslim for Allah, the Almighty, is unceasing and not contingent on any particular reason. Below, we present a collection of hadiths and phrases that reflect the love for Allah – the Most High:
- In a sacred narration, Allah – the Exalted – states: “Whoever shows animosity towards my Wali has declared war against Me. My servant cannot draw closer to Me with anything more beloved to Me than what I have made obligatory upon him. My servant continues to draw closer to Me through voluntary acts until I love him. When I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks. If he asks Me, I will surely grant him, and if he seeks refuge with Me, I will certainly protect him.”
- What do I care for wealth when You, O Lord, are the Possessor of all riches.
- What do I care for strength when You, O Lord, are the Almighty, unmatched in Your power.
- I have found refuge everywhere in life, but none is more honorable than Your refuge.
- He who anchors his heart with his Lord finds peace and tranquility; he who sends it among people becomes troubled and anxious.
- The softest heart is the one that fears Allah, the sweetest words are those that mention Allah, and the purest love is that which is for the sake of Allah.
- Ibn al-Qayyim stated: “The longing for Allah and His meeting is a breeze that blows upon the heart, dissipating the glare of worldly life.”
- Ibn al-Qayyim remarked: “Whoever settles their heart with their Lord finds peace, while the one who sends it into the world experiences turmoil and anxiety.”
- Ibn al-Qayyim noted: “The love of Allah cannot enter a heart that harbors the love of the world, except like a camel passing through the eye of a needle.”
- The one who finds companionship with Allah has Paradise in his chest, a garden in his heart, and his joy lies in the pleasure of his Lord.
- Indeed, Allah loves the grateful and persistently thankful servant, who praises Him in all conditions, whether in ease or hardship.
- When Allah loves a servant, He subjects everything in the world to that servant, grants him His blessings, and draws him closer.
- I love You, O Allah, so love me back, and I call upon You, thanking You for all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, my parents, and all Muslims.
- Whoever takes victory through Allah shall not be humiliated, and whoever is guided by His guidance shall not go astray. Whoever fears Him will not stumble, and whoever seeks His sufficiency will never diminish, for to Him belong all majesty and power – Exalted be He.
- Indeed, Allah knows the pure heart and hears the quiet word; when you say, “O Lord,” He may respond to your call, avert calamity from you, or reward you secretly.
- It is not surprising that we love Allah – the Blessed and Exalted – for the poor love the rich, and the weak long for the strong. The soul is inherently inclined to love the one who grants it bounties; however, it is indeed remarkable that the Sovereign loves His subjects, His servants, and bestows upon them various blessings.
- Ibn al-Qayyim noted: “When Allah loves a servant, He cultivates him for Himself, chooses him for His love, and selects him for His worship, filling his heart with preoccupation for Him, his tongue with His remembrance, and his limbs with acts of service to Him.”
