Beautiful Birthday Wishes for Mom

Mother

The mother is the one who sacrifices for her children, always striving to ensure their comfort and happiness. She stays awake during their illnesses and tribulations. A mother serves as the school for her children, with paradise beneath her feet, and joy is felt in her presence. She is the beloved who brings sweetness to life and the compassionate one who eases burdens. No matter her children’s actions, she remains forgiving. A mother embodies tenderness, warmth, and tranquility. In this article, we will explore what poets and writers have expressed about mothers and their birthdays.

Reflections on Motherhood

Reflection One:
Mom, you are the most precious person in my life, the most beautiful flower in this world. Without you, I would not exist, and life would not have meaning. You are dearer than my own life, more beautiful than anything in this world. I ask Allah to prolong your life and keep you safe from all ailments. A life without you is torment; I cannot bear to live because you are my life, my happiness, my joy, my water, and my air. I pray that I may never shed a tear for your absence, dear flower of my life, the most precious to my soul, and the treasure of this world.

Reflection Two:
Beloved mother, I stand before the letters of your name, lost for words.
The words within me rush forward, and my heart beats passionately with love.
You are my safe haven, the pulse of my heart,
The cure for my soul, the light of my life.
A flood of great love wraps around me, emanating from your kindness and loyalty.
You are the essence of my dreams, the fulfillment of every wish, who planted love in my heart for every being while extracting sorrow from me.
I grew to become a beacon of hope, unafraid of despair,
Raised in the embrace of love, sheltered by you, my beloved mother.
I fear not the years, for I have learned from your eyes
What love, compassion, and forgiveness truly mean.
You created a beautiful garden, staying awake for us to thrive.
When we fell ill, you were the kindest healer,
And when we were weary, you bore our burdens.
When we rejoiced, that was your greatest joy;
When we suffered, you were the one who cried.
May your eyes and heart always remain intact.
You remain my crown, adorning my life with love, kindness, and loyalty—lighting my path and giving me hope when despair arises.

Poetry About Mothers

Poem: To My Mother

This touching poem is by the poet Mahmoud Mufleh, who was born in Palestine in 1943, then moved to Syria in 1948 during the Palestinian Nakba. He studied Arabic at the University of Damascus and graduated in 1967. He reflects on motherhood in the following lines:

Why have I heard as if I have not heard the news?
Has my heart become a stone in my chest?
Why have I remained silent, my verses unmoving,
Neither feeling nor seeing a shred of poetry?
As if all the paths of poetry have closed,
Who has dried up poetry, each in their betrayal?
I was the one whose strings once played a melody,
Shaking the earth, the mountains, and the trees.
Why have I fallen silent, unable to articulate a verse?
Why have I not seen a tear escape my eyes?
Has the sand dried my emotions, leaving me barren?
Is poetry now devoid of meaning, without a tale to tell?
Have I become incapable of expressing my sorrow?
As if I did not listen to the splendid lady!
My mother is dying, and her right hand rests on my chest.
Oh, mother, have mercy; my heart is broken.
Rock my cradle, for I am still a child;
Wrap me up, for the wind has howled…
Dry my sweat; the heat of summer burns,
And pour the water so I can quench my thirst.
Extend your hands as you once caressed me,
For I have risen, the face of day revealed.
Guard me, for those eyes are treacherous,
And I have seen eyes flickering with malice.
If only you sang the summer’s songs upon my lips,
And drew me closer to the stars above.
Your voice, oh mother, still follows me;
Oh Lord, return to me the loved one who has endured.

Poem: To My Mother

This poignant piece is by Mahmoud Darwish, who was born in 1941 in Palestine and fled to Lebanon at the age of seven. He later returned and resided in the village of Deir Assad. Darwish is recognized for several notable works, among them “Soft Rain in a Distant Autumn” and “The Memory of Blossoms.” In his poem “To My Mother,” he writes:

I long for my mother’s bread,
For my mother’s coffee,
For my mother’s touch,
That grows deeper within me,
Day by day.
I cherish my life because,
If I die,
I would be ashamed of my mother’s tears!
Take me, if I return someday,
Wrap me in your shawl,
Cover my bones with the grass
That is blessed by your sole,
And bind me,
With a strand of hair,
With a thread fluttering at the end of your dress…
May I become a god,
A god I shall be,
If only I could touch the depths of your heart!
Place me, if I return,
As fuel in your oven,
And as a clothesline on your roof,
For I lost my stance,
Without the prayer of your day.
I have aged; so return me the stars of my childhood,
So I may join
The young birds
On their way back,
To the nest of waiting!
