Philosophical Reflections on the Prophet Muhammad
- French Orientalist Clément Huart states:
Historical accounts converge on the fact that Muhammad held a distinguished position characterized by noble qualities. He was known as “the Trustworthy,” reflecting an unwavering reliability and integrity that epitomized uprightness.
- Orientalist Gérard Détasi remarks:
Although Muhammad was born amidst paganism, even in his early years he displayed an extraordinary sense of discomfort towards vice and a profound love for virtue. His exceptional integrity and goodwill led his contemporaries to honor him with the title “the Trustworthy.”
- Sir William Muir, the English historian and orientalist, expresses:
Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, was unanimously recognized as “the Trustworthy” from an early age, acknowledged by his community for his honorable ethics and commendable conduct. It is worth noting that Muhammad transcends any description; those unfamiliar with him are unaware of his significance, while those who delve into his illustrious history recognize him as a foremost figure among prophets and thinkers worldwide.
- French philosopher Édouard Montet states:
Muhammad was distinguished by his sincere intentions and fair judgment, demonstrating clarity in thought and honesty. Overall, he was the most exalted, virtuous, and compassionate Arab of his time, steering them towards a transformed life they had never envisaged. He established a temporal and spiritual state that endures to this day.
- Argentinian researcher Don Byron mentions:
Historians unanimously agree that Muhammad ibn Abdullah stood out among his people for his commendable traits including truthfulness, honesty, generosity, and humility, earning him the title “the Trustworthy.” The deep trust placed in him compelled many to entrust their valuables to his care. He abstained from intoxicating beverages and did not participate in any pagan festivities, living modestly off his honest labor.
- According to Ibn Kathir:
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, exhibited unmatched bravery, especially in times of conflict. He was the most generous during Ramadan, the most knowledgeable of God’s essence, the most eloquent, the most insightful towards humanity, and the most humble in demeanor, remaining so until the Day of Judgment.

Poems About the Prophet
- Poem: “The Birth of Guidance” by Ahmad Shawqi:
The light of guidance was born, illuminating the universe,
With time’s smile and praise reflected in its sphere.
The Spirit and angels surround him,
Heralding both religion and worldly bliss.
The Throne and the meadow blossom in joy,
The End and the lofty Sidra flourish.
In the Garden of Excellence does happiness reside,
The translator’s beauty resounds in sweet melodies.
Revelation drops like pearls from the divine,
And the Tablet and the pen capture in grandeur.
Recorded are the names of the prophets; it is a holy parchment,
With Muhammad’s name inscribed as the crown.
The name of glory adorns its exquisite letters,
Here, the name of Taha augurs bright promises.
O the best to grace existence with salutation,
To whom the messengers came with guidance.
In the abode of the Prophets, there is no meeting without
The upright and righteous therein to counsel.
The best of fatherhood belonged to Adam,
Securing honor for all mankind,
And Hawwa cherished these virtues likewise,
They embraced the nobility of prophecy, and in your light shall glory last forever.
All greatness is ascribed to its worthy foundation,
Through you, God graced the heavens, adorning them,
And wafting sweet musk upon the earth.
Your visage, adorned with divine attributes,
Manifesting how guidance and humility could coincide.
Even the Messiah glorified you beyond the skies,
While the Blessed Virgin rejoiced with grace.
A day of celebration traverses epochs crowned by your presence;
Your dawn and dusk glow with the brilliance of Muhammad.
The truth has become elevated in this realm.
- Poem: “With My Father and Mother, You Are the Best of Creation” by Salah Abdullah:
With my father and mother, you are the best of creation,
And my Lord’s peace and blessings upon you are sweetened.
You are the Seal of the noble messengers, Muhammad,
Through revelation and the Quran, you were purified.
For you, O Messenger of Allah, resides true love,
Expressed abundantly through the tongue and evident actions.
Your love, O Messenger of Allah, surpasses all,
And shall endure, never evolving or fading away.
For you, O Messenger of Allah, stands our support,
Through deeds and words against all unfounded claims.
We offer our souls, which are inexpensive,
Instead of your honor, we sacrifice everything.
There’s a group of adversaries, cloaked in anger,
Donning the attire of malice, drenched in red.
They have been deceived by their darkened intentions,
And the scheming of the people was orchestrated.
May their hands, wrapped in vile executions, perish!
For the religion is preserved and the Sunnah of Ahmad is alive,
And Muslims, as one, confront whatever ensues.
Do they not realize how determined we were, should they mock?
For we stood as soldiers ready to respond similarly.
The gifted mercy was sent as a herald,
Alerting to preeminence among all religions.
For the noblest of morals, you came to complete,
Calling for what is good and erasing the objectionable.
May Allah’s blessings be upon you in His dominion,
Whenever a servant stands in prayer and proclaims his faith.
May blessings be upon you in His dominion
As the night and day interchanged with their grace.
May blessings be upon you in His dominion
As the stars orbited or a comet streaked by.
Upon you from the Divine, may peace be showered,
As life and fragrance blossom splendidly through you.
And in essence, my words return where they began,
With my father and mother, you are the best of creation.
Chants About the Prophet
- Chant: “What is Wrong with You, O Taha?”:
What is wrong with you, O Taha, what is wrong with me?
In this world, I have no one but you.
Send your blessings, O Creator, upon the guide
And all of his companions and kin.
O chosen one of the Merciful,
O selected one of the Judge.
O source of kindness,
Let there be blessings in every circumstance.
Send your blessings, O Creator, upon the guide
And all of his companions and kin.
- Chant: “The Moon of Our Prophet”:
There has never been a more beautiful sight than you;
Your nature is pristine, free of any fault;
You were created as you wished.
The moon, the moon, the moon of our prophet,
The moon is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, our prophet is beautiful.
And the hand of Al-Mustafa is like the lovely rose,
Its fragrance lingers on those who touch it.
May it be passed to all of mankind;
O beloved of God, the best of creation,
The moon, the moon, the moon of our prophet,
The moon is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, our prophet is beautiful.
It casts no shadow yet radiates light,
As the sun and the stars gain illumination from it,
And guidance would not exist without your emergence—
The universe illuminated by Taha’s radiance!
The moon, the moon, the moon of our prophet,
The moon is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, our prophet is beautiful.
- Chant: “The Breezes of Your Love”:
The breezes of your love bring forth sweet scents,
And through them, our hearts come alive.
The people are but a group who have recognized you,
While others wander aimlessly.
They entered this world in need;
And as they entered, they shall exit.
A group who acted righteously amidst all existence;
Thus, they ascended to higher realms.
O full moon, why the shades of absence?
My heart quakes at your absence.
I do not blame the heart that is oblivious to you;
For the blind enjoys no blame.
O you who claim to follow their path—
Hasten, for your road is a turn that twists.
Fear the Lord and do not sleep through the night;
For that, I assert, is a wretched act!
- Chant: “Except for God”:
God, God, God, God!
We have no Lord but God.
Whenever I call upon you, O You,
You respond, “O My servant, I am God.”
Remove the veils, for my heart
Is enveloped in the shadows of sins.
A momentary glance will suffice for me,
To awaken the dead within me.
Whenever I call upon you, O You,
You respond, “O My servant, I am God.”
There I stood alone at the door,
Hoping You would not cast me away.
For he who took refuge was surely blessed,
As happiness descended upon him.
God, God, God, God!
We have no Lord but God.
Whenever I call upon you, O You,
You respond, “O My servant, I am God.”
