Supplications of the Prophet

Prophetic Prayers for Morning and Evening

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is known for many supplications recited during morning and evening. Here are some notable examples:

  • (O Allah, rectify my religion, which is my protection; rectify my worldly affairs, which sustain my livelihood; rectify my Hereafter, which is my destination. Make this life a source of benefit for me in every good, and let death be a comfort from all evil).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, cowardice and old age, and stinginess. I seek protection from the torment of the grave and from the trials of life and death).
  • (O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and wealth).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, old age, and the torment of the grave. O Allah, grant my soul its piety, and purify it. You are the best to purify it; You are its guardian and protector. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not humble itself, from a soul that is never satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered).
  • (O Allah, bless me with hearing and sight, and let them be my legacy. Support me against those who oppress me and take retribution from them).
  • (O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, cover my faults as Uthman narrated regarding his faults, and give me peace from my fears. O Allah, protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, and from above me. I seek refuge in Your greatness from being attacked from beneath).
  • (O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is fulfilled, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that is Yours, which You have named Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept hidden in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the removal of my grief, and the departure of my anxiety and sorrow).
  • (There is no deity but Allah, the Most Great, the Most Forbearing. There is no deity but Allah, the Lord of the Majestic Throne. There is no deity but Allah, the Lord of the heavens, the Lord of the earth, and the Lord of the Noble Throne).
  • (There is no deity but You, glorified be You. Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers).

Prophetic Prayers for Forgiveness

Numerous supplications for seeking forgiveness have been reported from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Here are a few prominent examples:

  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Fire and its punishment, from the trial of the grave and its torment, from the trial of wealth, and from the trial of poverty. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of the trial of the false Messiah. O Allah, wash my heart with the water of ice and coolness, and cleanse my heart from sins as You purified the white garment from stains, and distance me from my sins as You distanced the East from the West).
  • (O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant me well-being, and provide for me).
  • (O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly, and none can forgive sins except You. Forgive me with forgiveness from You and have mercy on me, for You are the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful).
  • (O Allah, forgive my faults, my ignorance, my excesses in my affairs, and what You know better than me. O Allah, forgive my seriousness and my joking, my unintentional sins and my intentional sins. All of that is before me. O Allah, forgive what I have done, and what I delayed, and what I have concealed and what I have disclosed. You are the Exalted and the Most Powerful).
  • (O Allah, forgive my sins, expand my home, and bless me in my sustenance).
