Poetry about Ramadan
We present to you these poetic verses celebrating the holy month of Ramadan:
To the heavens, my gaze has revealed,
And my tears have exalted with longing and faith.
My heart praises Allah in humility,
Filling the universe with glorifications and praises.
May goodness be upon the one who brings glad tidings,
As joys adorn the month when it arrived.
A year has passed, and the month returns seeking us,
As if we had never been or existed.
A gentle breeze of faith surrounds us, lifting,
The heat of longing in our souls, blissful and eager.
O seeker of goodness, this month is a month of grace,
Come forth sincerely, may Allah reward your kindness.
Embrace its generosity and do not hold back from voluntary acts,
And let your forehead be branded with prostrations.
Give the obligatory acts their due, without harm,
And proclaim good deeds; recite the Quran within it.
Preserve your tongue from foolish words,
Do not harm the fast through careless remarks.
Give charity, as wealth will not decrease,
Even if you spend in goodness, it will multiply.
A date in the way of Allah quenches thirst,
Reviving a heart parched from scorching heat.
And what greatness lies in the Night of Decree,
In a night whose worth exceeds a thousand in our world.
I advise you of goodness in the days we travel,
In the journey of fasting, our hearts come alive.
For the start of the month brings forgiveness,
Wretched are those who do not encounter mercy.
Half of it is mercy for the creation it spreads,
The Lord, merciful to those who fast, with forbearance.
And the end of the month brings release from its fiery burn,
The darkest of nights spare no one, human or demon.
We seek refuge in Allah from its menacing thresholds,
Home to those who confront Islam with hostility.
And we ask Allah for the means to His paradise,
For forgiveness and His satisfaction with our meeting.
Beautiful Poetry about Ramadan
Ramadan has arrived, O people of insight!
Welcome it after a long absence.
A year has passed in our lives in heedlessness,
So be alert, for life is but a fleeting shadow.
Prepare for patience and hardship,
For the rewards of the patient are countless.
Allah rewards those who fast, for they
Endured through every hardship, as it was right.
No one but the fasting ones may enter Al-Rayyan,
Honor the gate of fasting among the doors.
May the Almighty shield them from the scorching days,
And from every punishment, He protects.
They will sip the nectar of Al-Salsabeel, its mixture
Surpassing all drinks in paradise.
This is the reward for those who fast for their Lord;
They rejoice in honor and grace from Him.
Fasting is a shield for the fasting one from sin,
Preventing vile actions and shameful deeds.
Fasting censors base desires entirely,
And liberates from shackles unjustly placed.
Whoever fasts but neglects the neighbor’s rights,
And kinship, let alone friendship, has not truly fasted.
He who devours another’s flesh through gossip,
Or speaks ill, has not genuinely fasted.
One who bears false witness with malice,
And forsakes morals and etiquette—
The fast is a school of restraint and piety,
Bridging the gaps between distant and close.
Fasting is a strong bond of brotherhood,
A thread of affection among family and friends.
Fasting is a lesson in equality brimming
With generosity, altruism, and hospitality.
The month of resolution, patience, and persistence,
An embodiment of a pure spirit and tolerance for hardship.
How many fasts went unfruitful for their keepers,
Aside from thirst, hunger, and exhaustion?
Not every person who refrains from food is truly fasting,
Nor is he abstaining purely from desires and drinks.
The fast is the highest objective that does not ascend
To its peaks like the prophets and their companions.
The Prophet and his companions fasted, and they turned away
From tainting their fast with mere distractions.
A people akin to angels or their likeness,
Walking and eating, clad in garments.
Fasting purified their souls and hearts,
Becoming the talk of the ages for eternity.
They fasted from worldly temptations,
Refraining from allurements and appetites.
The warriors advanced towards the foes in fasting,
Conquering all frontiers during the month of fast.
They gained control, yet did not forget their fasts,
Nor their night vigil for recitation of the Quran.
In the morning, they were brave lions,
With the thunder of their resolve echoing.
But at night, they were monastic,
Weeping, lamenting in prayer.
Welcome them among the fasting and may they rejoice,
With the arrival of the month of prayer and generosity.
Exquisite Poetry about Ramadan
O soul, the righteous have triumphed in piety,
And perceived the truth while my heart remains blind.
O beauty of the night that envelops them,
And their light outshines the stars.
They chant remembrance during their night,
For their lives are sweetened by melody.
Their hearts are dedicated to remembrance,
Their tears flow like pearls, aligned.
In their moments before dawn, they shine with light,
And the garments of forgiveness are the best of measures.
They safeguarded their fast through oblivion,
And humbled themselves in remembrance at night.
Beware, O soul, do not remain heedless,
Seize the opportunity before your footsteps slip.
Time has passed in idleness and folly,
So redeem what remains and embrace its potential.
Poem: Here is the Crescent of Ramadan
The poet Ibn Al-Sabbagh Al-Judhami expresses:
This is the crescent of Ramadan,
Visible in the horizon; do not be negligent.
It has come visiting; honor it greatly,
Make its greeting a recitation of the Quran.
Fast it and preserve it, take advantage of its days,
And mend the faults of the weak through kindness.
Wash away the trace of sins with persistent tears,
It is no wonder that tears wash away the guilt.
By pouring forth, for what a sinner has done,
When injustice is the path they’ve pursued.
To Allah, a people who devoted themselves, save themselves,
From the calamity of loss and defeat.
They abandoned their beds, rising at night,
Imploring in humility and surrender.
They stood with utmost devotion and dedication,
To serve the Lord of both worlds.
They rode on the steeds of resolve, bearing their pain,
With their hearts urging in the depth of sorrows.
They jumped forth, while deep sighs
Burned through their chests’ ribs.
They made their souls submissive to the service of their Lord,
For thus, they earned His satisfaction.
If you are not among them, then ally with them, perhaps
You may gain their favor in your dreams.
Ally with them and adhere, O beloved, to their love,
And seek them in your worldly life clearly.
O my soul, if passion distracts me,
From the place that has advanced to the Merciful.
Let my tears flow in grief
For the wasted time in mundane desires.
O Lord, grant me the highest rank of Ahmad,
The best among those who hold greatness.
Do not deprive me of the blessings of Ramadan, nor
Make my abode one of suffering far from Your paradise.
Poem: Ramadan, O Kindness Embodied
The poet Ahmad Zaki Abu Shadi writes:
Ramadan, O embodiment of grace,
O Muse of the poet,
Who adorns with stars,
They outshine us like jewels.
Who indulges in your melody,
A beguiling enchantment.
Who shuns the sunlight,
Preferring the whispers of the night,
Who blooms with tables laid,
Like luminous minarets.
Who revels in leisure,
Abundance flows freely.
Who pours forth wisdom,
Like a compassionate deity.
Who embraces purity,
Like the dawn’s innocence.
Who comes as Easter,
Between tears and glad tidings.
Who counts as a brother,
The poor before a harsh age.
Who nurtures the dreams of the young,
With every gracious wing.
What have you kept, what have you given,
With those hesitant moments?
From every single soul in despair,
Or every weak branch.
They fast, and the best fast shields them
From triviality and childish play.
For nations are mighty,
Not enslaved to tyrants.
No one fasts who uses fasting
As a means for the wicked.
No fasting crocodile feasts,
In appetite for deceit.
No fasting comes from those unaware
Of the philosophy of rebellious fasting,
Disregarding injustice and treachery.
The Creator who is just and supportive
Of many virtues.
Blessed are the month of light,
Invading the night without soldiers.
Between weddings,
And games of joy circling.
And those who glorify and recite,
In haste and at lecterns.
With heavenly scents wafting,
Flowing as poetry flows.
May you be blessed, and may joy accompany you,
O blessed month that brings happiness.
Until you return with a victorious Thursday,
With love, not sword, above intentions and insights.
And open to Islam, treasures of greatness
And glorious honors.
And radiant joys replace
Grief and lamentations.
