Supplications from the Holy Quran
This section highlights various beautiful Islamic prayers that are found in the Holy Quran:
- As mentioned in Surah Ibrahim: “Our Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day when the reckoning will take place.”
- “My Lord! Bestow upon them Your mercy as they did bring me up when I was small.”
- “My Lord! Inspire me to be grateful for Your favors that You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteous deeds of which You will approve, and admit me by Your mercy among Your righteous servants.”
- “My Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and anyone who enters my home as a believer, as well as the believing men and women, and do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction.”
- “My Lord! Make me an established performer of prayer, and many from my descendants. Our Lord! Accept my supplication.”
- “My Lord! Inspire me to be grateful for Your favors that You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents. And let me do good deeds that please You, and make righteous for me my offspring; indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am one of the Muslims.”
- As stated in Surah Al-Baqarah: “Our Lord! Do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or made a mistake. Our Lord! Lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord! And burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.”
- “Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions in our affairs and make our feet firm and give us victory over the disbelieving people.”
- “Our Lord! You encompass all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your path, and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire. Our Lord! And admit them to the Gardens of Eternity which You have promised them, along with the righteous from among their fathers, spouses, and descendants. Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise. And protect them from evil deeds, and whoever You protect from evil deeds that Day, he has been given mercy from You. And that is the great attainment.”
- “Our Lord! Make us Muslims for You and of our descendants a Muslim nation for You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.”
- As mentioned in Surah Al-Imran: “Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.”
- “Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Supplications from the Sunnah
The noble Hadith literature includes a collection of established Islamic supplications from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Here are some notable examples:

- “O Allah! Let me live as long as life is good for me, and take my soul when death is good for me.”
- “O Allah! I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and wealth.”
- “O Allah! I seek refuge with You from worry, grief, incapacity, laziness, stinginess, cowardice, the burden of debt, and the oppression of men.”
- “O Allah! I seek refuge with You from stinginess, cowardice, returning to the lowest point of life, and I seek refuge with You from the trials of this world—the trial of the Dajjal—and I seek refuge with You from the torment of the grave.”
- “O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the loss of Your favors, the transition of Your well-being, the sudden onset of Your vengeance, and all forms of Your displeasure.”
- “O Allah! Forgive my mistakes and ignorance, my excesses in my affairs, and what You know better than I do. O Allah! Forgive me my seriousness and playfulness, my errors and willful sins, and all of that is with me. O Allah! Forgive me what I have done in the past and what I will do in the future, what I have hidden and what I have made public, and what You know better than I do. You are the Expediter and You are the Delayer, and You are capable of all things.”
- “O Allah! Suffice me with what is lawful instead of what is prohibited, and enrich me with Your bounty from everyone else.”
- “O Allah! I seek refuge with You from poverty, deficiency, and humiliation, and I seek refuge with You from causing injustice or being unjustly treated.”
- “O Allah! I bear witness that You are Allah, there is no deity except You; You are the One, the Eternal Refuge, who neither begets nor is born, and there is none comparable to You.”
- “O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the evil of what I have done and from the evil of what I have not done.”
- “O Allah! Protect me in Islam while I am standing, protect me in Islam while I am sitting, and protect me in Islam while I am sleeping. Do not let my enemy or my envious one rejoice over me. O Allah! I ask You for every good whose treasures are in Your hand, and I seek refuge with You from every evil whose treasures are in Your hand.”
- “O Allah! Assist us in being grateful to You, remembering You, and worshiping You well.”
