Ismail Pasha
Ismail Pasha, born in 1830 and passing away in 1895, was the sixth ruler of Egypt from the Muhammad Ali dynasty. His reign marked a significant period of development across various sectors; under his leadership, Egypt thrived in areas such as architecture, economy, administration, judiciary, education, and culture.
Ismail Pasha’s Successors
- Khedive Tawfiq: The eldest son of Ismail Pasha with his wife Shafaq Nour Hanem, Tawfiq was born on November 15, 1852. He grew up and received his education in Egypt. Upon reaching adulthood, he was appointed head of the council, showcasing his wisdom. Although he preferred a peaceful life away from politics, circumstances changed his path. In 1879, Ismail Pasha was deposed, and Tawfiq was appointed the new Khedive of Egypt. He passed away in Helwan Palace, Cairo, on January 7, 1892.
- Sultan Hussein Kamel: Born in 1853 to Ismail Pasha and Nour Faleq Hanem, Hussein Kamel’s reign was marked by instability from 1914 to 1917. His tenure was cut short by illness, leading to his untimely death in 1917, resulting in a mere two years of rule.
- KIng Fuad I: The son of Ismail Pasha and his third wife, Ferial Hanem, Fuad I ruled Egypt from 1917 to 1922. He attended a prestigious school established by Ismail Pasha for the education of his children. After spending some time in Italy, he returned on his father’s orders to serve in the Egyptian army. Fuad I was concerned that the national movement posed challenges to his constitutional monarchy, diminishing the extent of his governing power.

In addition to his direct successors, Ismail Pasha had several other children:
- Prince Ibrahim Hilmi and Princess Zainab Hanem: The children of Ismail Pasha and their mother, Janier Hanem.
- Prince Mahmoud Hamdi: Another son of Ismail Pasha, his mother was Jahan Shah Qadir.
- Prince Rashid Bek: The son of Ismail Pasha, with his mother being Faleq Nar Qadin.
- Princess Tawhida and Princess Fatma Ismail: These daughters are also children of Ismail Pasha with their mother, Shahrat Fazah Hanem.
- Princess Jamila Fadl: The daughter of Ismail Pasha, born to Jahan Fadl.
- Princess Amina: Another daughter of Ismail Pasha, whose mother was Nashet Dal Qadin.
- Princess Amina: Additionally, another daughter from Hoor Janaan Qadin.
- Prince Ali Jamal Pasha: A son of Ismail Pasha, whose mother was Jamal Nour Qadin.
- Prince Hassan Pasha: The son of Ismail Pasha with King Hanem, born on November 21, 1853, he held the rank of Marshal in the Ottoman Empire. He traveled to Europe to study military arts and was appointed by his father as a commander upon his return, later becoming a companion to Sultan Abdulhamid II.
