Reflections on Friday
Friday holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims worldwide. It is a day dedicated to prayer, recitation of the Quran, supplication, and sending blessings upon Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This day serves as an opportunity for believers to draw closer to Allah, seeking immense reward and blessings. In this article, we present some beautiful words about Friday:
- On this blessed Friday, you promised your servants that you would accept their prayers. I extend my prayers for a beloved heart, asking Allah to grant it what it desires and to bring it closer to You. Let it be destined before the sun sets on this Friday, Ameen.
- O You whom I hope for all good and love solely for Your sake, may You keep away all harm from him, bless him throughout his life, ease his affairs, forgive him and his parents on the Day of Resurrection, and bless his Friday and all his days.
- Friday: A day of blessings and faith, when supplications are answered, and a light to guide us into the coming week.
- It is the weekly celebration of Muslims, a blessed day when they gather in their finest attire for a mandatory congregational prayer, reuniting families away from their daily distractions. Truly, it is a weekly festival.
- On Thursday night, deeds are presented to Allah, while on Friday, sincere prayers are elevated to Him. Ensure you and your loved ones partake in this sacred opportunity.
- May Allah illuminate your path with every verse of Surah Al-Kahf, opening avenues that life’s trials may have closed, making every letter you read an increase in your faith for the upcoming week, deeply impacting your soul for the long term.
- Have you pondered on Friday as it deserves? Muslims wake each Friday morning, cleansing themselves as an act of Sunnah, then heading to the mosque to read Surah Al-Kahf, awaiting the Friday prayer. The Sheikh delivers a sermon to remind them of Allah, providing spiritual nourishment for the week ahead, clarifying boundaries, reminding them of Paradise and aspirations, and encouraging them to do good and uphold righteous conduct. After the prayer, they greet one another in unity, sharing a joyful meal with their families amidst the blessings of the day. Indeed, it is a day filled with blessings, light, and happiness.
- Friday stands as a remarkable spiritual station—do not let it pass without fostering change within yourself.
- Allah has made it a unique day, distinguished from the heavens above, so let it be special for you and those around you. It is Friday—a day filled with goodness and prayers.
- O Allah, just as You have blessed Friday, gather my scattered soul toward You, bring me closer to You, and remove my inner evils. Enable me to meet You clean, with my sins forgiven, and let my expiation between the two Fridays cleanse my misdeeds.
- Each Friday, may our hearts grow purer with love for Allah. Every Friday, may our souls thrive in remembrance, our lives uplifted in good deeds, and our relationships nourished with affection.
- O Allah, let us walk in Your gardens, follow Your love, live in Your remembrance, remain steadfast in the Quran, and die while testifying to Your Oneness. Bless us and our parents on this Friday, and have mercy upon us with Your infinite compassion. A blessed Friday to all.
- May Allah bless you on this Friday, granting you a good reputation, abundant grace, rectifying your inner self, guiding you on the path to Paradise, and interceding for you through the Messenger of the nation. Pray and send blessings on the intercessor of the community, have a blessed Friday.

Supplications for Friday
- O Lord, on this Friday, You promised to accept the supplications of Your servants. I pray for a heart dear to mine; grant it what it desires and make it as You wish. Please decree this before the sun sets on this Friday.
- O Allah, do not turn Your face away from us on the day we meet You. Do not cast us away from Your door, for who will we turn to if You forsake us, O Lord of the worlds, O Most Merciful of the merciful?
- All praise be to Allah, who no one hopes for except for His favor, and no one sustains except Him. Allah is the Greatest; nothing is comparable to Him on earth or in the heavens, and He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.
- O Allah, we praise You, filling the heavens, the earth, everything in between, and whatever You desire beyond that.
- O Allah, I praise You with abundant praise, blessed and good. I praise You as befits the majesty of Your face and the greatness of Your dominion. I praise You as much as the creation You have made, according to Your satisfaction, the weight of Your throne, and the ink of Your words. I praise You until You are pleased, and I praise You upon Your pleasure.
- O Allah, do not hold us accountable for what the foolish among us have done. Treat us not based on our actions but rather on what You are worthy of.
- O Allah, I ask You, O Reliever of distress, Revealer of grief, Answerer of the supplications of the oppressed, O Merciful of the worldly and the hereafter, shower Your mercy upon me.
- O Allah, You are the Rich, and we are the poor. Send us down rain and do not make us amongst the despairing. O Allah, shower us with the rain of faith in our hearts, do not withhold your mercy from us, O Lord of the worlds.
- O Allah, I surrender to You, I have faith in You, I rely on You, I contend with You, and to You do I submit. Forgive me for my past and future, what I have hidden and what I have disclosed. You are the One who comes first and last, the Outward and Inward; I rely on You, and You are the Lord of the mighty throne.
- There is no deity but Allah, acknowledging the master of His abode. Glory to Allah, humbly bowing to His greatness; there is no power nor strength except by Allah, the Most High, the Great.
- O Allah, grant us the pleasure of gazing upon Your magnificent face and a yearning for meeting You without straying, misguiding, or falling into temptation. O Allah, shade us beneath Your shade on a day when there is no shade but Yours.
- O Allah, I ask You, for all praise belongs to You; there is no deity but You, the Generous, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Majestic and the Honorable, by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
- O Allah, You are the Light of the heavens and the earth, the Support of the heavens and the earth, the Compeller of the heavens and the earth, the Judge of the heavens and the earth, the Inheritor of the heavens and the earth, the Owner of the heavens and the earth, the Exalted, the All-Knowing of the heavens and the earth, the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth, O Merciful of the worldly and the hereafter.
- O Allah, do not deprive us of the vastness of Your mercy, the abundance of Your blessings, the entirety of Your health, and the richness of Your gifts. Do not deny me Your bounties for the evils within me, nor repay me for my poor deeds; do not turn Your blessed face away from me, with Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
- Allah is the Greatest; nothing is comparable to Him on earth or in the heavens. He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing. O Allah, I beseech You in my prayer and supplication for blessings to purify my heart, relieve my distress, forgive my sins, rectify my affairs, enrich my poverty, eliminate my evil, unveil my grief and worry, cure my ailments, fulfill my debts, dispel my sorrows, gather my fragments, and brighten my face, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
- O Allah, there is no guide for whom You have misled, no bestower for whom You have withheld, no preventer of what You have given, no expander of what You have withheld, nor advance of what You have delayed, nor postponement of what You have advanced.
The Virtue of Friday
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stated regarding Friday and its virtue over other days: “The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; Adam was created on it, he was brought down to earth on it, he died on it, he was forgiven on it, and the Hour will take place on it. There is no creature that does not listen on Friday from the moment it dawns until the sun rises — out of fear for the Hour — except for mankind and jinn. On it is a time when a Muslim servant does not ask Allah for anything but that he will be given it.”
Practices of Friday
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged Muslims to take a ritual bath on Friday, to wear perfume, to arrive early for prayer, striving to pray in the first rows, and to make abundant supplications on this blessed day. Among the recommended practices for this day are also sending ample blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Some hadiths indicating the practices of Friday include:
- The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever takes a bath on Friday, arrives early, walks instead of riding, draws near to the Imam, listens quietly, and does not speak, for every step he takes, he will receive the equivalent of a year of fasting and prayer.”
- The Prophet (peace be upon him) stated: “This is a day of celebration which Allah has bestowed upon the Muslims; whoever attends Friday, let him take a bath, and if he has perfume, let him apply it, and let him use a miswak.”
- The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Seek the hour that is hoped for on Friday, after the Asr prayer, until sunset.”
