Thoughts on Longing in Love
- I love you, and within me lies a thousand heartbeats afraid of losing you.
- Love is the map of life, and longing signals a deep emotional void.
- The morning and evening when I can’t hear your voice cannot truly be considered as such.
- You remain the only love within my heart, a passion I fall deeper for each day.
- My beloved, when I sleep I dream of seeing you in reality, and upon waking I yearn to encounter you once more in my dreams.
- Love is the longing for someone when they are far away, yet feeling warmth because they reside close in heart.
- There are whispers that come from behind, reminding me of my love for you; no matter how much I try to ignore them, they slyly tell me that the longing is tearing me apart.
- We may cry in secret and laugh in public; such are the souls weary from nostalgia.
- When you miss someone, you wish the faces of everyone around you would become just one.
Beautiful Musings on Longing and Love
- Sometimes we endure silence because there are feelings that words cannot heal. There are many things I miss that I do not know; will they return, or will they forever be just memories? We need them, and the tightness constricts our souls, whispering deeply of our longings, fearing that our intense yearning might evoke their indifference, which would only wound us more.
- I dream of distances vanishing between you and me.
- Perhaps my soul has failed to meet you, and my eyes have also faltered in seeing you, but my heart will never fail to remember you.
- Those who have not embraced the yearning for life fade away into its atmosphere.
- Fate would be their answer if we were to ask them about the reasons for their absence.
- Some are distracted in their new worlds, while others are shaken by longing, harboring words in their hearts that desire to soar into the skies and echo for all ears, to cry out for us to return to the way we were — for the nostalgia of our bygone days has consumed me.
- This morning is unlike any other, for the essence of your spirit waves your presence in every corner of my imagination.
- If a million love you, I am one of them; if one loves you, it is I; if no one loves you, know that I have died.
Expressions of Nostalgia and Eager Waiting
- Some may vanish, yet they remain in our thoughts more than the time spent with us in life.
- Only you can truly feel it, as it belongs to your being; it is the face of that person who ignited this feeling within me.
- Your love in my heart illuminates life; our love will forever remain, a giant despite the distance.
- In times when I long for you, all my thoughts gather and escape to you, with longing pulling me strongly towards you.
- Missing someone can, at times, make the world seem empty.
- How can I conceal the yearning in my features when your name is mentioned?
- Longing is an internal feeling that grows until it becomes overwhelming; it drives us, often without us realizing it, into sadness and pain for those we have lost.
- Your name is etched in my mind and soul, and your image preserved in my heart, and your memory will forever be the light from which I draw life.
Wisdom and Sayings about Longing
- In longing, we find ourselves, not in the union.
- The longing for God and to meet Him is a breeze that calms the heart, alleviating the heat of the world.
- Why do I yearn for you so deeply if we both mean “us” as we agreed?
- Longing is fire, and fire distorts all beauty, erasing all traces until only ruins remain.
- What keeps us together is that neither of us belongs wholly to the other; this is how longing remains between us.
- Grant me the distant longing; my yearning for what is afar is my prayer, and the distant is my sanctuary.
- I have endured a yearning that has transformed my life into a secret longing cloaked in nostalgia.
- I cannot swallow the longing, the nostalgia, the words; I express them here, hoping that one day they will reach you.
Poetic Verses on Longing
- Reciting the poet Al-Buhturi:
Longing for you, tears overflow,
Sorrow for you, my ribs constrict.
And love is renewed by the nights that come,
Each time they return, and the years delay.
Indeed, while the pilgrims pass,
There are those who walk, yet still remain.
I bestow you the utmost affection, without diminishing,
If the utmost care is of benefit to you.
I see you the best of those I know, even if
Your indifference appears, and your connection remains total.
My bliss is drawn towards you, it ignites,
My longing and need for your love, I follow after.
Engrossed in your love, I am enchanted, and it pleases me
That I am a person utterly smitten with your love, intoxicated.
Indeed of honor, you are the descendants of Al-Abbas,
Your father is the uncle of the Prophet, and his lineage radiates.
Indeed greatness is for he who seeks it through
Umar, and he is interceded for.
I see the Caliphate, which is the greatest rank,
Indeed for you, and a heritage that cannot be taken away.
God granted to you, knowing you well,
And He gives to whom He wills and withholds.
Who could contest you, and the basin of Muhammad,
By seeking the intercession of Al-Abbas in you?
A king whose satisfaction is the satisfaction of kings, and his displeasure
Is the death of enemies, and their expected fate.
Generous, abstaining from all that,
He avoids what the noble abstains from.
- Reciting the poet Nizar Qabbani:
If you are my friend, help me,
To depart from you..
Or if you are my love, assist me,
To heal from you.
If I knew love to be so dangerous,
I would not have loved.
If I knew the sea to be so deep,
I would not have sailed.
If I knew my fate,
I would not have started…
I miss you.. teach me,
How not to miss you.
Teach me,
How to sever your roots from the depths.
Teach me,
How the tear dies in the eye.
Teach me,
How the heart dies and desires perish.
If you are a prophet… save me,
From this magic..
From this disbelief.
Your love is like disbelief.. so purify me
From this disbelief..
If you are strong.. take me out
From this abyss..
For I do not know the art of swimming,
The blue wave in your eyes pulls me into the deep
And I have no experience
In love.. nor do I have a boat..
If I mean dear to you.. take my hands,
For I am a lover from my head.. to my feet.
I breathe under the water..
I am drowning..
Drown..
Drown..
Drown..
- Reciting the poet Ibn Zaydun:
What harm would it be if you were merciful to me,
And you are the one who understands my ailment?
How delightful it is for you, my desire and my wish,
That you are what I complain of and you remain safe.
You laugh in love, while I weep,
God is the judge between us.
I say when sleep escapes me,
The heart of a wanderer yearns to be awakened.
O sleeper, awaken me with your love,
Grant me slumber, O you who slumbers.
- Reciting the poet Qais Ibn Al-Mulawwah:
I yearn for Layla even if the distance is great,
Just as the punctured reed yearns for Layla.
They say Layla has tortured you with her love,
Oh, how I wish to have that torturer back!
