Hadiths Regarding Egypt in the End Times

Several hadiths refer to Egypt during the end times, including the following:

  • Abu Dharr – may Allah be pleased with him – reported that the Prophet Muhammad – peace be upon him – said: “There will be a man from the Banu Umayyah in Egypt, who will initially hold authority but will subsequently be overthrown or taken out of power, prompting him to flee to Rome. He will return with them to Alexandria to fight against the people of Islam, and that will mark the beginning of the great battles.”
  • The Messenger of Allah – peace be upon him – stated: “You will conquer a land where the qirat is mentioned; therefore, treat its inhabitants well, for they have a covenant and a blood relation. If you witness two men fighting over a brick, then remove yourself from there.”

Hadiths Regarding the Levant in the End Times

The following hadiths describe the situation in the Levant during the end times:

  • The Prophet Muhammad – peace be upon him – said: “O Allah, bless our Levant; O Allah, bless our Yemen.” They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what about Najd?” He replied, “O Allah, bless our Levant; O Allah, bless our Yemen.” They pressed again, asking, “What about Najd?” He reportedly said in the third repetition, “There will be earthquakes and tribulations there, and a quarter of Satan will rise from that region.”
  • The Prophet – peace be upon him – noted, “While I was in my sleep, angels came to me and carried the pillar of the book from beneath my pillow and directed it towards the Levant. Verily, faith is where the tribulations will take place in the Levant.”

Hadiths About Trials in the End Times

Numerous hadiths address the trials of the end times, some of which include:

  • The Prophet Muhammad – peace be upon him – declared: “Time will draw close, knowledge will diminish, trials will appear, greed will be thrown upon the people, and killings will become rampant.” They asked, “What is killing, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “Killing, killing.”
  • He also said, “Before the Hour, there will be days when ignorance prevails, knowledge is lifted, and killings increase. Killing will be rampant.”
  • The Messenger of Allah – peace be upon him – stated: “The Hour will not commence until a man passes by the grave of another and says, ‘I wish I were in his place.’
  • He further mentioned: “The Hour will not come until a man from Qatan emerges, guiding people with his stick.”
  • He remarked: “The first of the signs of the Hour will be a fire that gathers people from the east to the west.”

Guidance for Actions During the End Times

Below are hadiths that offer guidance on what individuals should do in the end times:

  • The Prophet Muhammad – peace be upon him – advised: “You will witness after me selfishness and matters you will find objectionable.” When asked what to do, he replied, “Deliver their rights to them and ask Allah for your rights.”
  • He cautioned: “The Euphrates River will soon uncover a treasure of gold. Whoever is present at that time should not take anything from it.”
  • The Messenger said: “Give charity, for there will come a time when a man walks with his charity, and he will not find anyone to accept it.”
  • He warned: “The Hour will not come until two great groups fight, sparking a massive slaughter between them, despite their similar calls, and until many false prophets emerge claiming to be Messenger of Allah. Knowledge will be lifted, earthquakes will multiply, time will draw close, tribulations will appear, and killings will increase—killing in abundance. Wealth will overflow to the point that the owner will be concerned about who is willing to accept his charity, to the extent that he will offer it to others, only to be rejected. People will boast about their buildings, and a man will pass by the grave and wish he were the buried one. The sun will rise from its west, and once the people see it, they will believe—but belief at that time will not benefit anyone who did not believe beforehand or who did not earn good through their faith. The Hour will commence while two men are spreading their garments between them and will not seal a deal. The Hour will commence when a man has already poured milk for his family but will not get to drink it. The Hour will come while a man is preparing a water pool and will not be able to water anything, and the Hour will commence while he holds food in his hand without being able to eat it.”

Hadiths Describing the Conditions of People in the End Times

Numerous hadiths from the Prophet Muhammad illustrate the state of the Ummah during the end times, highlighting themes such as people’s material obsession, poor ethics, dwindling knowledge, and the spread of evil, including:

  • The Prophet said: “A time will come when the hearts of the people resemble the hearts of non-Arabs, obsessed with worldly matters, and they will adopt the customs of the Bedouins, spending their sustenance on animals, perceiving jihad as a burden and zakat as a loss.”
  • He emphasized: “There will come a time when a person will not care from where he acquires his wealth, whether lawful or unlawful.”
  • He mentioned that before the Hour, there would be greetings made only among acquaintances, rampant commercialism, women aiding their husbands in business, severance of family ties, false witness, suppression of rightful testimony, and the rise of knowledge. In another narration, the Prophet said: “Among the signs of the Hour is that a man will only greet those he knows.”
  • The Prophet spoke about individuals in the end times: “Men will emerge with whips like the tails of cows, gallivanting in the wrath of Allah by day and returning in His anger by night.”
  • When men complained to Anas bin Malik – may Allah be pleased with him – about the oppression they faced, he advised them, “Be patient; there will not come a time upon you except that the one after it will be worse, until you meet your Lord, just as I heard from your Prophet.”
  • The Messenger said: “There will come deceptive years during which the liar will be believed, the truthful will be denied, the untrustworthy will be trusted, the trustworthy will be betrayed, and insignificant people will speak on public matters.” They asked him who such a person was, and he described them as “the trivial man in public affairs.”
  • The Prophet stated: “Time will draw close, knowledge will diminish, trials will proliferate, greed will increase, and killings will abound.” When asked what killing was, he repeated, “Killing!”
  • He foretold: “In the end times, there will be upheavals, calamities, and transformations when musical instruments and singers are prevalent, and the consumption of alcohol is normalized.”

Hadiths Highlighting the Virtues of the End Times

Numerous hadiths discuss the blessings that will be manifested during the end times, including:

  • The Prophet Muhammad – peace be upon him – stated: “A caliph will emerge during the end times who will distribute wealth without taking count.”
  • He added, “Then it will be said to the earth: ‘Produce your fruits and restore your blessings.’ On that day, a group will eat from a single pomegranate, and they will seek shade under its rind. Abundant barakah will be bestowed upon livestock, to the extent that a single female camel will suffice for a large tribe, a single cow for a clan, and a single sheep for a family.”
  • The Messenger of Allah – peace be upon him – noted: “There will be a time when whoever abandons even one-tenth of what he was ordered will perish, and in a subsequent time, a person who acts upon one-tenth of these orders will be saved.”
  • He reassured: “There will always be a group from my Ummah that is upon the truth, dominating, and those who oppose them will not harm them until the command of Allah comes.”
  • He prophesied: “Allah will defeat the Jews to the point that there will be nothing created by Allah that a Jew can hide behind, except for the gharqad tree. It will not speak, but it will declare: ‘O servant of Allah, this Jew is behind me, so come and kill him.’ In this period, Jesus son of Mary will be among my community as a just ruler and equitable Imam. He will shatter the cross, slaughter the swine, abolish the tribute, and abolish almsgiving. No sheep or camel will be sought after, animosity and hatred will be removed, and the mercy of every living creature will be fostered.”
